PCOS is one of the most common hormone disorders in teenaged and adult women. It has been seen that one out of every five women almost suffers from this. Cervical Cancer

This type of cancer often occurs at the women’s cervix. It can be often found early and even prevented completely at times by having regular Pap tests. Gynaecologic Infectious Diseases

These are the infections which occur in the female reproductive tract and female genitalia, infections during pregnancy, pelvic infections, post-operative infections, and sexually transmitted infections. Ovarian Cancer

This disease is found to be the second common gynaecologic cancer with several cases each day. It is a disease where some of the cells in one or both ovaries grow abnormally and eventually develop into cancer. The ovaries are two small almond shaped organs that are part of the female reproductive system. Each ovary measures about 2-4cm across and they sit on either side of the uterus. There are four main types of ovarian cancer, and these are named after the type of cells in the ovary where the cancer begins growing. Advanced ovarian cancer is often treated with the help of surgeries. When a woman is carrying more than one baby, it is known as multiple pregnancies. If more than one egg is released during the menstrual cycle and each one is fertilized by a sperm, more than one embryo may implant and grow in the uterus. Heart Disease

Heart disease is the leading killer of both men and women. It has been analysed in women, the condition is responsible for about 29% of deaths.

Yet death in itself isn't the biggest problem for women with heart disease. The real trouble is in premature death and disability.

Although more men die of heart disease than women, females tend to be underdiagnosed, often to the point that it's too late to help them once the condition is discovered.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It is second to lung cancer as the leading cause of death for women.

The American Cancer Society lists the following as risk factors for breast cancer:

Increasing age
Genes (Most commonly, the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes).
Family history of the disease (Pedigree)
Personal history of the disease
Race. White women have a slightly greater risk of getting breast cancer compared with African-American women. Yet African-Americans have had a greater chance of dying from this disease.

Early onset of menstruation (before age 12) or menopause after age 55
Not having children
Medication use, such as diethylstilboestrol (DES)

Osteoporosis

Hunched backs, back pain, and frailty used to be things older women had to accept before doctors knew anything more about osteoporosis. There are steps women and girls can take to avoid such problems.

Osteoporosis is largely preventable; the behaviours that women develop in their childhood, in their adolescence, and in their early adult years really play a significant role in the development of the disease. That's because bodies build up most of bone mass until age 30. Then new bone stops forming and the focus is on maintenance of old bone.

Depression

Depression appears to affect more women than men. It has been reported that about 12 million women are affected by a depressive disorder each year compared to about 6 million men.
